ILLUSIONS
OF THE NORTH

THE DREAM IN QUESTION
The story behind the lyrics
“THE NORTH LOOKED LIKE A PROMISE—UNTIL THE COLD REMOVED THE FILTER.”
After forty, restarting in Alberta meant watching a lifetime of experience get flattened to a high-school line on an application. The warehouse became the new classroom: steel toes, brutal shifts, minimum wage, and junior managers turning pressure into “culture.”
Behind every clean social post sat rising credit debt, a frozen commute, and the daily gaslighting of being told to feel grateful. The record holds that contradiction without surrendering dignity.
It is also a family story: a parent absorbing the cold so the people under his roof can keep believing in warmth. The dream is questioned, but the duty remains.

Behind the Scars
MANIFESTATION & TRUTH
“Business success did not erase the man who learned to brace before every bill arrived. Achievement can change your circumstances while trauma keeps replaying the old weather.”
“Online, relatives back home see the polished frame: a Canadian skyline, a business milestone, a clean coat. They cannot see the credit balance or hear the warehouse alarm. When the message asks for dollars, love and pressure arrive in the same sentence.”
THE TRUTH IS NOT IN THE FILTER. IT IS IN WHAT WE CARRIED THROUGH IT.
